LinkedIn Text Formatter: bold and italic text for your posts

Type or paste your post, select a few words and make them bold, italic, underlined or a bullet list. Copy the result and paste it into LinkedIn. Free, instant, no signup.

Select words first to style only them. With nothing selected, the style applies to the whole text.

Everything runs in your browser. Nothing you type is sent to us or stored.

How LinkedIn bold and italic text works

LinkedIn posts have no formatting buttons. The formatter swaps your letters for Unicode characters that look bold or italic, so the style survives the copy and paste.

Styled letters are special characters, not real bold. Screen readers may read them one by one or skip them, and LinkedIn search does not match them. Use them on a few words, never on a whole post.

How to format a LinkedIn post that stays readable

Formatting should guide the eye, not decorate. Four habits keep a post easy to read.

Bold one idea

Use bold for the one line you want a skimmer to remember, such as the hook or the result. If everything is bold, nothing stands out.

Use short paragraphs

One to three lines per paragraph, with a blank line between them, does more for readability on a phone than any style.

Keep hashtags plain

A hashtag in styled letters stops working as a hashtag. Leave hashtags, names and keywords people search for in normal text.

Check it in the app

After posting, open the post in the LinkedIn app. A few older devices show styled letters as empty boxes.

LinkedIn text formatter FAQ

Is this LinkedIn text formatter free?

Yes. It is free, with no signup and no limit. It runs in your browser, and nothing you type is sent to us or stored.

How do I write in bold on LinkedIn?

LinkedIn posts have no bold button. Type your text here, select the words, click Bold, then copy the text and paste it into your post. The bold look comes from Unicode characters, so it stays after pasting.

Does bold text hurt my LinkedIn reach?

There is no evidence that a few styled words change reach. The real costs are that LinkedIn search does not match styled words and that screen readers handle them badly, so keep styling light.

Can screen readers read bold LinkedIn text?

Not well. Some read each styled letter by its character name, others skip it. That is why the formatter warns you when more than about a third of your words are styled.

Does styled text count toward the 3,000 character limit?

Yes. Each styled letter counts like a normal one, and the counter above the text box tracks the total for you.

How do I get more people to see my post?

Formatting helps people read a post; reach comes from reactions and comments in the first hour. Podawaa adds early reactions from real people in your field, and its free plan boosts up to 5 posts a month, with no card required.
